KITCHEN DESIGN – MEANWOOD LEEDS
Located in the sought after area of Meanwood, this property sits between the bustling student village of Headingley and the quaint shop fronts and restaurants of the Meanwood suburb. This Family home has recently transformed and now houses a new double storey extension, creating the perfect space for a new kitchen.
EXCELLENCE IN SPACE
Our client’s ultimate goal was to create a cohesive family space which merged perfectly with their everyday life. We were essentially taking the snug, the kitchen, the dining room and the children’s playroom and turning them into one large space at the rear of the house. Large rows of Velux windows lined the kitchen and dining space and this was a feature we wanted to retain in our kitchen design, allowing light to flood the whole area.
For the cabinetry, our client requested keeping everything modern with clean lines, yet maintaining a sense of character, one which was sympathetic to the design of the house. We designed a beautiful solid ash shaker door with a slim outer frame profile, in order to create the perfect modern shaker. The visible grain allowed the character of the wood to shine through, yet the design kept it modest and classic. The cabinetry was then painted in a deep graphite colour against the contrasting light grey colour. We were able to use such a deep colour as the space was so open and light.
We fused all the cabinetry in the room with a classic 30mm white polished quartz, which provided a blank canvas for the preparation areas, thus highlighting the overall light in the room even further. We incorporated quartz to create window cills and splashbacks throughout.
This kitchen takes the classic U shape design yet amplifies it to the modern day standard; with crisp lines, sweeping worktops and preparation areas in abundance. The overall effect creates not only a functional family space, but an attractive heart to the home where all the family comes together.

Unique Work surfaces
30mm square edged Polar Blanc Quartz with 100mm upstands and quartz cills to window cills. Creating a colossal run for preparation requirements and added breakfast bar for on looking guests.
The project was meticulously planned in partnership with our client in order to create the most functional family space possible. Fridge space was of the upmost concern, so we utilised a tall integrated larder fridge, with then 2 undercounter freezers. One located in the kitchen and the other in the utility. This then allowed our client to plan the Weekly shop needs in advance . Work surface area again was needed and an area for the children to be able to see what was ongoing in the kitchen, therefore these two elements were integrated to create the large sweeping prep work surface which then blends into the breakfast bar at the end. We used sophisticated internal storage solutions such as the tall larder tandem pull out, which features an array of shelves and trays, 2 sets of large 1000mm cutlery and pan drawers in order to store all the utensils and crockery. Our ultimate aim was to create a space which could be used and loved by all, we strove to make the kitchen the heart of the home and it most certainly was.
